Note-taking method

Note-taking method:

The Cornell method is an effective way of taking notes. It involves dividing your note paper into three sections: a note-taking column, a cue column and a summary section, nevertheless it takes too much effort. In my opinion, note-taking should be convenient yet effective. Therefore, I would take down notes by firstly writing the sub-chapter/chapter that would be covered in the lecture today. Then, I would write the key points that is being told by the lecturer. Questions would be written beside the key-point the lecturer is discussing. This helps because i would know how the question relates to the lecture. A brief summary of the sub-chapter would be written once the notes are complete for the day. Once I'm home, I would recall what has been taught in class and write them down in a piece of paper. After writing what has been taught, I would look back at my notes and write down what I'm missing. This would help add up what I've forgotten. I would go on to understand the things that are missing and why I couldn't remember them during my recalling process. In conclusion, I would restructure the Cornell method by just making it less formal by removing the sections and adding a recall process.

How I take notes during lessons

Note taking is without a doubt the most important thing to do whenever we are learning a subject as it helps us to learn it not only faster but also to understand it better. There are a variety of methods that can be used for this. The strategy I use is a modified version of the Cornell Method First of all, I will read through the materials. Next, I would extract the important information regarding the topic. After extracting the information, I would paraphrase the notes in a way which I can easily understand and memorise the key points. Finally, I will do questions from activity books or assignments and depending on how I answered the questions, it will reflect on how much I actually understand the topic.

KINAESTHETIC LEARNER

Kinaesthetic learners is one of the 9 types of intelligence. A kinaethestic learner would prefer to learn through a hands-on experience rather than passively listening to a lecture or watching a demonstration. You may notice that some of your friends are kinaesthetic learners when they have characteristics like talking with multiple hand gestures and also tend to require a study break every so often.

VISUAL LEARNER

There are a variety of learning methods. This is because everyone learns differently, I personally am a kinesthetic learner. But let's not get into that, instead let's focus on visual learners. A visual learner is an individual who comprehends and retains information most effectively through visual aids and cues. This learning style involves processing and understanding concepts, ideas, and data by observing diagrams, images, graphs, charts, and other visual representations. Visual learners often have a strong preference for seeing information in order to grasp and remember it more efficiently.

How do you manage your time?

The image above shows various ways to effectively manage your time, but what is time management you may ask? Time management is the art of efficiently allocating and utilizing your time to achieve tasks and goals. It involves prioritizing responsibilities, setting specific objectives, and creating a structured schedule. Effective time management allows you to maximize productivity, reduce stress, and create a balance between work, personal life, and leisure activities. By planning ahead, setting deadlines, and eliminating distractions, you can make the most of your time and accomplish more in a more systematic and organized manner.

What is self-esteem?

Self-esteem refers to an individual's overall perception of their worth, value, and competence. It plays a crucial role in shaping one's mental and emotional well-being, influencing how they view themselves and interact with the world around them. Healthy self-esteem is associated with better resilience, confidence, and a more positive perspective on life. Here are some ways that I think that can help to improve your self-esteem. To boost your self-esteem, begin by practicing self-compassion and replacing self-criticism with kindness. Set realistic goals to achieve and celebrate accomplishments to enhance confidence. Recognize your strengths and positive qualities while challenging negative thoughts with balanced perspectives.

Concentration

 CONCENTRATION:

There might be countless of distractions internally and externally in the class. We shall always monitor our emotion, thoughts and environment. I learnt to said no to distraction. For example, I will say no to snacks because it will distract me. In the class, I will avoid myself from daydreaming and always keep focus in my class.

MOTIVATION

MOTIVATION :

In the first lesson of Study Skill, I have learnt on how to motivate myself to keep myself on the track towards success. I will set a goal for me to achieve within a time period and give myself a reward if I complete my task within that time. For example, I will ask myself to get a good result during the class test and getting a reward for myself if I do so. This type of method can give me a lot of motivation in order for me to success in my study as well as my life.
